The Dragonslayers and Cancer Research

We have been asked to play at the Dragonslayers Motor Cycle Club to celebrate St Georges day on April 24Th, fancy dress is optional but a good time is guaranteed. It will be held at the Hibernian Club in Stanley and tickets priced at £5 are available from the Dragonslayers website http://www.dragonslayermcc.com/.

The night is part of the fundraising events for Team Alliance and the 2010 Mongol Rally so get your armour polished and get along for a ' knight of Classic Rock '

And that's not all, we will be supporting Cancer Research Stanley at the Harperley Music Festival on July 17Th details of the bands playing on the day are available on the Cancer Research Website, all we can do is hope for better weather for this years festival, but it did not stop us last year.
Rumours that the Hamster and Kev will be attempting the Derwent Walk for Cancer Research on May 9Th have yet to be confirmed, so we will keep you posted .......

Harperley Music Festival

Have just had the final total for the Harperley Festival for Cancer Research and we are pleased to announce that the Festival raised over £3000, and we have been told that there are plans to hold a similar event next year.
We hope to be able to play a part in next years festival as we had such a great time at the Harperley and with all our friends from Cancer Research, and it would be an honour to be asked to do it all again and help raise so more cash for a great charity.

Cancer Research Charity Walk 2009

Kev our singer and all round good egg, put on his walking boots all in the name of Charity to support Cancer Research Stanley last month.He was accompanied by Andrew ( Spartan's Fifth Member featured @the Old Tannery)and they set out for the 11 mile walk to do something to help raise funds for the charity event.

They completed the walk and also managed time to cram in an ice cream on the way,Garry ( Spartan's Bassist ) would like to thank Andrew for stepping into his shoes and completing the walk for him, as he could not make it due to holiday commitments.

Well done to you both.....

The New SPARTAN demo.......

Our new demo is in the process of being completed and we are into the final re-mix of the tracks as we speak.We recorded the songs that we feel most passionately about and the one's we feel most at home with, needless to say we are very happy with the end result so far and hope you will be too.

Here at SPARTAN Central we would just like to say a Great Big Thanks for all the support,help and friendship we have encountered our the past year.We have been able to play some of the best venues on the circuit and have always been given a warm reception at every one.

Due to Mick ( Spartan's resident skin basher ) getting an ear infection , we are calling on the Talents of Graeme ( drummer for the Alleycats ) to fill in on Friday for our gig at the Wheatsheaf in Benton.
We would like to take the time to thank Graeme, who stepped up to the plate without a second thought and look forward to your wild and crazy solo at the end of rock ' n ' roll which is the Micksters signature tune.

New Demo on the cards

We are planning a new demo to show off some of the newer songs that we have been doing for a little while. Although nothing has been finalised we hope to be recording a couple of tracks in the very near future and also planning to record a dvd ( for our own amusement ). We hope to be able to record the next demo in the same way as the previous one, going for a 'live feel' again as that seems to reflect what we are trying so hard to capture at our gigs. But we may also look at booking some studio time as a treat to ourselves and trying a full production on a few of our favorite tunes.
